I've always had issues with my blood sugar. Hypoglycemia and Diabetes runs in my family big-time. I am blessed with the first, and I'm at a huge risk for the second. As a result, I must take a few precautions to make sure that I don't pass out in the middle of class or something. The first is that I almost always carry two kinds of snacks around. I usually have some kind of sugar, and some kind of protein. Usually a candy and a granola bar or something. This way, if and when I feel my blood sugar dropping, I will eat the candy, and then after I feel a little better, I eat the protein. This usually works, but lately is another story.
Lately, I feel my blood sugar drop more often.
Lately, I can't fix it.
Lately, I have to pull over in traffic because I am so dizzy I can't see right.
Lately, I have suffered through constant nausea.
Lately, I've shown signs for Diabetes.
SO...
Now I am on a strict diet with strict rules.
I have to limit sugar. By limit, I mean I might get a cookie if I'm lucky, but generally I get water. Speaking of water, I'm doubling that too. I'm cutting out all useless carbs - in other words, I won't eat white flour or anything like that. The rule of thumb: If it's white, don't eat it.
So how will I fix my low blood sugar without sugar? Good question. I take a super nasty vitamin in the morning that is designed to help people stabilize their blood sugar. Then, if my blood sugar does drop, I get to take this other vitamin.
Zija. We got it as a drink mix, but the people selling it to us told us that it tasted a lot better just eating it straight. It's not too bad, so that's what I do. My mother says it tastes like a pixie stick - she is wrong.
On top of all that, I have to write down every time I get dizzy or nauseous, including the time and what and when I ate last. I'm being observed.
Hmph. Wish me luck, and after a week of all this, I better get a cupcake.
